Merv has now included six small HTP panels from his HTP Colour Guide on the back of the Moriarty Colour Wheel & Mixing Plotter cover. The aim is for everyone to have a clear understanding of the three variables of colour: Hue Tone and Purity.

At 9.30am this morning, Wednesday, 7th November 2011, my new book, COLOUR - the definitive guide officially went on sale. This book, which includes the innovative Moriarty HTP Colour Guide, is already being hailed as the new colour bible and is a must-have for designers, artists and photographers – anyone who works with colour.

The Moriarty HTP Colour Guide is an innovative system that’s easy to use and will allow designers and artists to create perfect colour combinations with ease. The system of colour analysis I’ve developed from 40 years of teaching artists will allow designers, artists and photographers to use colour in perfect pitch and harmony. The system is a designer and artists dream.

The book will be pre-launched in Brisbane at the Art Shed at 6.30pm, 22nd November, 2011.  I will be in Brisbane for the 40th anniversary of Flying Arts and hope to see many of you over the weekend and at the pre-launch. The book will then be officially launched at the National Library in Canberra in the New Year and I’m looking forward to working with Maureen Brooks and the wonderful team at our prestigious National Library in Canberra once again.

I am also working on development of the digital software application of the Moriarty HTP Colour Guide and will keep you informed about this innovative product as it moves forward.

The internet is a marvellous and revolutionary tool and it allows me to keep costs down on the First Folio of COLOUR - the definitive guide which is hand-bound and hand-stitched with a canvas cover and leather spine and gold leaf logo and spine junction.

There are two very special editions of COLOUR - the definitive guide available at the moment. The beautiful first folio, which is priced at $390 plus $15 postage, and is hand-bound and hand-stitched with leather spine and has a gold leaf logo and spine junction. The first 100 copies include a special Moriarty lino cut.

The second edition for sale at the moment is a special introductory edition, priced at $290, plus $15 postage, which is also hand-bound and hand-stitched with a canvas cover. The first 100 copies of this edition come with a hand-crafted silk screen print. To order and for more information go to www.mervmoriarty.com

Without so many of you this book would not have been possible, it has been developed through the ongoing connection and interaction I’ve had with you for over 40 years, as your teacher and mentor, and it is the utmost honour to have inspired many of you. Through your thirst for artistic knowledge you have led me down this path, into this amazing world of colour.

I’d also like to thank my assistant Rose Constable who has worked tirelessly on this book and whose skills are irreplaceable, and of course to my own inspiration, my life partner Prue Acton, whose love of colour is as great as my own, and who continues to be the most wonderful support and friend.

Lastly I’d like to thank celebrated photographer Gordon Undy for his kind words in the foreword of the book in which he writes….“for I am persuaded that only God knows more about colour than Mervyn Moriarty”. Thank you Gordon.

Sincerely

Merv Moriarty

COLOUR - the definitive guide is the companion book to The Eye’s Mind – The Artist and the Draftsman, which was launched at National Library in Canberra in June last year by His Excellency, Mr Michael Bryce.
